Snorkeling at the Dry Tortugas
Dry Tortugas National Park is about 70 miles west of Key West. There are no roads. You go by ferry, seaplane, private boat or a permitted charter.
Three ways to go
- The ferry. The Yankee Freedom is the high-speed catamaran ferry listed by the National Park Service. The day trip includes breakfast, lunch and snorkel gear. See the day trip (from $260, non-refundable on Viator).
- Seaplane. Key West Seaplane Charters flies morning, afternoon and full-day trips.
- Small-boat charter. Permitted charter boats also run Tortugas trips, usually as private charters at a higher price per person.
Plan ahead
- Services in the park are limited. Bring what you need from Key West.
- Entrance fees apply to visitors 16 and older who arrive by personal boat.
- Check current conditions before you leave.
